Clinical Interests

Dr. Wells-Di Gregorio provides psychological evaluation and treatment for oncology and palliative medicine patients and family members.  The most common reasons for referral include psychotherapy for depression, anxiety, panic disorder, anticipatory and post-bereavement grief and adjustment difficulties.   She also provides consultation regarding capacity for medical decision-making and provides services for families faced with end of life adjustment and decision-making.  Dr. Wells-Di Gregorio co-facilitates Pathways (link), the hospital-wide grief support group with Sherm Everett, hospital chaplain.  She recently published a chapter on family decision-making at the end of life (link).

Research Interests

Dr. Wells-Di Gregorio is currently Co-Director of the Psychooncology and Palliative Medicine Research Program.  Her research focuses upon the overlap of physical and psychological symptoms in advanced disease and the neuro-immunological mechanisms of these symptoms.   Her research also focuses upon patient and family adjustment to advanced disease including interventions to support family communication and decision-making at the end of life.

Teaching

Dr. Wells-Di Gregorio is Director of the Psychooncology and Pallitive Medicine Fellowship (link) and teaches regularly at The Ohio State University Medical Center for medical students, residents, fellows, physicians and nurses on topics such as diagnosing depression for patients with advanced disease, managing anxiety in the medical setting, pain and addiction, family communication and advance care planning, end of life psychological interventions, and bereavement and grief.
